Dr. Foad Aghamiri

Biography:

Dr. Foad Aghamiri is a Faculty Member at International Business University (IBU). He specializes in chemical engineering, energy systems, battery energy storage, carbon capture, and applied data science.

With more than 27 years of experience across academia, industrial research, and renewable energy, Dr. Foad Aghamiri combines deep engineering expertise with modern data science and AI techniques. He spent more than two decades at the University of Isfahan, rising to Full Professor. There, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and as Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, leading strategic planning, accreditation, curriculum development, and faculty development. In Canada, he has been a Research Associate at the University of Waterloo, leading projects in carbon capture, advanced batteries, and process optimization.

At IBU, he teaches Business Analytics in the MBA program. He has also taught data analysis, predictive analytics, statistical modeling, and energy management at Sheridan College, Conestoga College, and the University of Niagara Falls Canada. His teaching draws on real industry data and practice, helping students apply analytics and machine learning to complex business and operational problems.

Academic and Professional Contributions:

Dr. Foad Aghamiri is currently a System Performance Analyst and Data Engineer at Canadian Solar. He builds data pipelines, predictive maintenance models, and fault detection systems for utility-scale battery energy storage. His work supports performance optimization, reliability analysis, and data-driven decision-making in the renewable energy sector.

He is the author or co-author of 74 peer-reviewed publications in chemical engineering, energy systems, and environmental technologies. He has led industry-sponsored research on crude oil characterization, asphaltene precipitation prediction, and oil spill remediation. He has supervised 25 MSc and 10 PhD students, guiding them through industrially relevant research, and has built lasting collaborations between academia and industry.
