Dr. Touraj Baniroustam

Biography:

Dr. Touraj BaniRostam is a Faculty Member at International Business University (IBU). He specializes in machine learning, multi-agent systems, cognitive science in AI, intelligent decision-making, and data mining.

With nearly 20 years of academic experience, Dr. Touraj BaniRostam brings an interdisciplinary perspective that connects artificial intelligence, cognitive science, and the philosophy of AI. His research applies machine learning, natural language processing, and data mining to prediction and classification problems, including disease diagnosis, sentiment analysis, and intelligent scheduling. He also studies intelligent autonomous agents and multi-agent systems.

At IBU, he teaches Business Analytics, Information Technology and Digital Transformation, and Technology Literacy and Applications. He also teaches reinforcement learning, computer vision, and conversational AI at Georgian College, and he has taught emerging AI technologies and AI algorithms at Humber College and Durham College. His teaching makes complex technical concepts practical, helping students use data and AI to drive better business decisions.

Academic and Professional Contributions:

Dr. Touraj BaniRostam spent 16 years as an Assistant Professor at Islamic Azad University, teaching machine learning, business intelligence, intelligent decision support systems, and data mining at the graduate level. He served as Chair of the Computer and IT Engineering Department, overseeing curriculum development and faculty recruitment. As Vice Chancellor of Science and Engineering, he served on the expert council shaping AI development policy and helped develop AI curricula for use across academic disciplines. He has supervised more than 80 master’s and 5 PhD students.

He has published more than 65 journal articles and more than 30 conference papers. He has also translated more than 10 books into Persian, including leading texts on cognitive science and the philosophy of artificial intelligence. In industry, he has served as an AI Research Manager, developing machine learning and deep neural network solutions for an intelligent construction cost estimator.
