Dr. Asima Vezina
President and Vice-Chancellor
Biography:
Dr. Asima Vezina is President and Vice-Chancellor of International Business University (IBU). She brings more than 20 years of experience across higher education, government, and public administration.
At IBU, she leads the development of Ontario’s first independent, not-for-profit university, with a focus on academic quality, institutional growth, and industry engagement. Her work includes oversight of governance, financial management, and institutional strategy, with an emphasis on aligning academic programs with changing workforce and societal needs.
Prior to joining IBU, Dr. Asima Vezina served as President and Vice-Chancellor of Algoma University. During her tenure, she led initiatives to expand access to education, strengthen partnerships, and support long-term institutional sustainability.
Leadership and Public Service:
Dr. Asima Vezina has held senior leadership roles across academia and the public sector, with experience in governance, risk management, and organizational leadership.
Her work has included advancing equity in education, supporting truth and reconciliation initiatives with Shingwauk Indian Residential School survivors, and contributing to programs focused on community wellness, mental health, and addictions.
She has worked with partners across local, national, and international contexts, with a focus on sustained collaboration and institutional accountability.
