Biography:
Mehmet Komurcu is a member of the Board at International Business University (IBU) and a partner in the Corporate group at Dentons’ Toronto office.
He advises Canadian and international clients on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and reorganizations, business immigration, and general corporate and commercial issues.
Corporate and Legal Experience:
Mehmet Komurcu has assisted clients across a wide range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on technology, including startups, as well as energy, education, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and hospitality.
He has worked extensively with multinational companies expanding into Türkiye, delivering strategic advice on mergers and acquisitions, investment management, intellectual property matters, litigation, dispute resolution, privatization, and initial public offerings.
In a previous role, he served as general counsel to Turk Telekom during its privatization, international expansion, and subsequent initial public offering, which was the largest in Türkiye at the time.
International and Academic Background:
Mehmet Komurcu has worked at an international law firm in Istanbul and in the Legal and Claims Department of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), part of the World Bank Group in Washington, DC.
He holds three master’s degrees from American and Canadian law schools and a PhD in public international law from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has been published in several journals and has spoken at professional and academic conferences. He is licensed to practice law in Ontario, Istanbul, and New York.
