New peer-reviewed journal, guided by a global editorial board, will publish applied, industry-relevant research in business, management, and intelligent technologies

TORONTO, ON – International Business University (IBU) has launched the Journal of Business, Management, and Intelligent Systems (JBMIS), a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to publishing rigorous, high-impact research that advances knowledge and practice at the intersection of business, management, and intelligent technologies to advance organizational excellence. The journal is led by Professor Kourosh Parand, chair of IBU’s MSc in Applied AI program, and guided by an 18-member global editorial board.

The journal was launched on October 15 at IBU’s Toronto campus, bringing together faculty, industry and academic stakeholders.

JBMIS gives researchers a platform to share research that advances the exchange of academic and industry knowledge and informs debate on contemporary global challenges. Its scope includes the rise of artificial intelligence, the growing role of business intelligence and analytics, the advent of skills-based education, and the role of management and leadership in shaping regional and global business environments.

It also examines how technology-driven innovation and data-centric methods transform decision-making, competitiveness and value creation, and how research across business, management and intelligent systems can help industry leaders make their organizations future-ready. In doing so, it bridges scholarly insight and real-world implementation for researchers and practitioners alike.

“The purpose of JBMIS is to connect research with practice. At IBU, we prepare graduates to anticipate and drive change, and JBMIS brings that same purpose to research. With it, IBU is helping set the agenda for impactful and applied research that matters to organizations in Canada and around the world,” said Dr. Feridun Hamdullahpur, Chancellor of International Business University.

“IBU was built on programs that are career-relevant and connected to real work, and JBMIS carries that same principle into applied, industry-relevant research. We want to hear from faculty, practitioners, industry leaders, and students whose research can help organizations make better decisions and prepare for what comes next. JBMIS gives them a rigorous, peer-reviewed platform to share their research output and to shape the conversation on the global stage” said Dr. Asima Vezina, President and Vice-Chancellor of International Business University.
