International Business University Appoints Dr. István Imre as Executive Dean and Vice President

International Business University (IBU), a forward-thinking institution dedicated to delivering career-focused, personalizes business education, is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. István Imre as its new Executive Dean and Vice President.

Prior to joining IBU, Dr. Imre held senior academic leadership positions, most recently as Vice President, Academic and Research at Algoma University. Throughout his career, he has successfully led transformative initiatives, including the development of a multi-year academic plan, the launch of graduate-level programs, and the establishment of a Centre for Teaching and Learning. His ability to combine academic excellence with innovative program development and strategic partnerships has earned him recognition within both academic and professional communities.

Dr. Asima Vezina, President and Vice Chancellor, IBU said, “As Executive Dean and Vice President at IBU, Dr. Imre will oversee academic strategy, program development, and institutional growth while ensuring an exceptional student experience. His vision for student success, his extensive experience in program development and quality assurance, and his passion for fostering collaborative, high-performing academic communities align perfectly with IBU’s mission and future aspirations.”

Dr. Imre is an accomplished academic leader and researcher with nearly two decades of experience in higher education. He earned his Ph.D. in Biology from Concordia University, along with an M.Sc. in Zoology and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Fisheries Biology from the University of Guelph. His research expertise lies in aquatic biology and fish behaviour, and he has secured significant research funding and authored numerous peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Imre expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “I am truly inspired by the bold, entrepreneurial spirit of IBU and its vision for redefining business education in Canada.
